What was once an unassuming 1980s beach house has been thoughtfully transformed into a warm, colourful retreat that captures everything people love about Byron Bay without losing its original soul.
Rather than undertaking a complete architectural overhaul, James and his family chose to work with what was already there.
Midcentury Daydreams’ original features were celebrated instead of removed, creating a home that feels authentic. Breezeblock walls, timber details and generous natural light provide the backdrop for carefully collected vintage furniture, bold artwork and meaningful objects gathered over time to create spaces with personality.
The home embraces the beautifully imperfect rhythm of family holidays, where sandy feet are expected, books are left open on coffee tables and conversations stretch long after sunset.
